FUE or “Follicular Hair Extraction” involves removing groups of healthy hair follicles or “grafts” from the back of the head and placing them into the bald or thinning area.

This method allows for fast recovery and minimal scarring, meaning that the patient can keep their hair as short as they want in the future without any scar tissue showing.

FUE Therapy In Hair Transplant Process
Hair Preparation
In FUE Therapy the donor area is prepared by washing and shaving an area from the side or back of the head normally ear to ear. A local anaesthetic is applied to reduce discomfort whilst the hair transplant surgeon uses a state of the art electronic punch to extract the individual hair grafts. An antiseptic dressing is applied to the donor area which can be removed the following day.
Hair Extraction
The grafts are extracted in FUE Therapy using a 0.9mm electronic punch and categorised into grafts containing one, two or three hairs. Once selected by Wimpole Clinic’s technicians, the hairs are prepared for transplantation. The hair extraction process typically takes between 1-3 hours, depending on the number of grafts to be extracted.
Hair Placement
The agreed design of the frontal hair line is marked out before surgery begins. Using a fine needle, small slits are made in the scalp area into which the hair grafts are placed one-by-one. The hair grafts are placed evenly into the small openings to match your existing hair pattern, angulation and desired density. This takes between 1-4 hours, depending on the number of grafts to be placed.
Post Operative Care
Patient start taking bath from the day after the FUE Therapy in hair transplantation. Anti Biotics and Mild Analgesics are given for first seven days. Minoxidil drops and vitamins is started after 2 weeks for 3-6 months time.
When Hair Start Growing
Initially transplanted hairs fall by 2-4 weeks time but the roots remain. All the transplanted hair’s start growing by 3-6 months time. Once grown, they can be cut, shampooed and they even grow naturally after shaving.
